Bugüne kadar geçerli olan uygulamaya göre çok çocuklu ailelerin ilk erkek çocuğu indirimli askerlik süresinden istifade ediyordu.
Yeni değişiklikle birlikte çok çocuklu ailelerden gelen her erkek, indirimli askerlikten istifade edebilecek. Azınlıkça’nın aktardığına göre böylece hizmet edecekleri birime göre (kara, hava, deniz kuvvetleri) 6, 8 veya 9 ay askerlik yapacaklar.
Ayrıca Yunanistan’da 15 ay olan “alternatif askerlik” süresi de 12 aya düşürülüyor.
