Kosova UNESCO’ya kabul edilmedi. UNESCO genel kurulunun Paris toplantısında yapılan oylamada 92 evet, 50 karşı ve 29 çekimser oy ile Kosova’nın UNECO üyeliğne kabul edilmesi önerisi reddedildi.
UNESCO’ya üye olabilmesi için Kosova’ya 95 oy gerekiyordu. Kosova 3 oy için UNESCO’ya kabul edilmedi.
Sırbistan Kosova’nın bu önemli uluslararası örgüte kabul edilmemesi için görülmemiş kampanya sürdürdü. Arkasına Rusya’yı alan Sırbistan , Kosova’nın UNESCO’ya üyeliğini engelledi.
Evet oyu kullanmayan ülkeler böylece kültür mirası ile zengin olan Kosova’yı UNESKO’ya kabul etmediler.
