Dünya Sağlık Örgütü, dünya genelinde ortalama yaşam süresinin 2000’li yıllarda 5,5 yıl uzadığını açıkladı.
Dünya Sağlık Örgütünün (DSÖ), yayımladığı “Dünya Sağlık İstatistikleri” raporuna göre, 2000-2016 arasında ortalama yaşam süresi 5,5 yıl artarak, 66,5’ten 72’ye yükseldi.
Ortalama yaşam süresinde kişi başına düşen gelir, belirleyici rol oynamaya devam ederken, düşük gelirli ülkelerdeki ortalama yaşam süresi yüksek gelirli ülkelere göre 18,1 yıl daha düşük.
2019’da 73 milyonu erkek, 68 milyonu kız 141 milyon çocuğun doğmasının öngörülen raporda, erkeklerin ortalama 69,8, kızların da 74,2 yıl yaşayacağı tahmininde bulunuldu.

Raporda kadınların, erkeklere göre sağlık hizmetlerine erişiminin daha yüksek oranda gerçekleştiği, erkeklerin önlenebilir ve tedavi edilebilir bulaşıcı olmayan hastalıklarla, trafik kazalarından ölme olasılığının kadınlara göre daha fazla olduğu kaydedildi.
