Ünlü İngiliz müzisyen Yusuf İslam, Kocaeli Büyükşehir Belediyesince bu yıl 9’uncusu düzenlenen ve Anadolu Ajansının (AA) global iletişim ortağı olduğu Kocaeli Kitap Fuarı’nda, yeni çıkan “Neden Hala Gitar Taşıyorum Cat Stevens’ın Yusuf’a Ruhani Yolculuğu” isimli Türkçe baskılı kitabını imzaladı.
Okurları, “Cat Stevens” olarak ünlenen ve Müslüman olduktan sonra adını değiştiren İslam’a, Kocaeli Uluslararası Fuar Merkezi’ndeki imza etkinliğinde yoğun ilgi gösterdi.
Stant önünde uzun kuyruklar oluşturan okurları için kitaplarını imzalayan İslam, kitapseverlerle sohbet edip hatıra fotoğrafı çektirdi.
Programın ardından, AA muhabirine açıklama yapan İslam, Türkiye’de olmaktan ve Türk insanının kendisine olan ilgisinden çok mutlu olduğunu söyledi.
“Gitarı tekrar niye elime aldığımı anlatabilmemin en iyi yolu”
Yeni kitabını sadece Türkiye için yazdığını ve Türkçe basıldığını vurgulayan Yusuf İslam, “İçimde neler olup bittiğini açıklayacak sözlerim olmadığında şarkı yazdım. Şimdi daha fazlasını açıklayacak sözlerim var.” dedi.
Yeniden gitar çalmaya başladığı için Müslümanların kafasında soru işaretleri olduğunu ve sürekli bu konuda kendisine sorular yönettiklerini ifade eden İslam, “Müslümanların anlayabilmesi için, ne zaman gitarı bıraktığımı ve tekrar niye elime aldığımı anlatabilmemin en iyi yolunu seçtim bu kitapta. Türkiye’nin, İslam dünyasının bir modeli, bir örneği olduğunu görüyoruz. Umarız bu büyüme devam eder. Türkiye ile gurur duyuyoruz.” şeklinde konuştu.
