Birleşmiş Milletler Enformasyon Merkezi’nin (UNIC) Fas Ofisi Başkanı Fethi ed-Debbabi, Türkiye’nin, dünyada en çok sığınmacı kabul eden ülkeler arasında ilk sırada yer aldığını belirtti.
Birleşmiş Milletler Enformasyon Merkezi’nin (UNIC) Fas’taki Müdürü Fethi ed-Debbabi, New York’ta gelecek pazartesi yapılması planlanan Birleşmiş Milletler (BM) Mülteci ve Göçmen Zirvesi öncesinde Fas’ın başkenti Rabat’ta düzenlediği basın toplantısında, “Türkiye, sığınmacı kabul etmek konusunda dünyada birinci. BM verilerine göre Türkiye geçen yılın ilk yarısında bir milyon 838 binden fazla sığınmacı kabul etti. Onu 1,5 milyonla Pakistan, Lübnan, Irak, Etiyopya, Ürdün, Kenya, Uganda, Çad ve Sudan takip ediyor.” ifadelerini kullandı.
Dünyada her dakika 24 kişinin göç ettiğini belirten Debbabi, söz konusu durumun neden olduğu krizinin BM’nin Mülteci ve Göçmen Zirvesinin düzenlemesini zorunlu kıldığını kaydetti.
Debbabi, mülteci ve göçmenlerin yaşadıkları zorlukların artması, denizlerdeki ölümler ve insan ticareti konusunda uyarıda bulundu.
Bunun yanı sıra, toplantıda konuşan BM Fas Yerleşik Koordinatörü Philippe Poisont, savaşlar, fakirlik, gıda güvenliği, işsizlik, ayrımcılık ve insan hakları ihlalleri nedeniyle büyük göç akımlara çözümün bulunması gerektiğini kaydederek, konu hakkında ilk kez bir zirvenin düzenleneceğine dikkati çekti.
Poisont, son yıllarda artan yabancı fobisinin sona erdirilmesi gerektiğini vurguladı.
