Sırbistan, Rus doğalgazını Ukrayna’dan geçirmeden Türkiye üzerinden Avrupa ülkelerine taşınmasının hedeflendiği Türk Akımı projesine onay verdiğini duyurdu. Konuyla ilgili açıklama yapan Sırbistan Enerji Bakanı Aleksandır Antiç, “Sırbistan Devlet Enerji Ajansı, Sırbistan Devlet Gaz Şirketi Gastrans’ın Türk Akımı projesiyle ilgili teklifine olumlu bakmış ve transit geçiş için izin vermiştir” ifadelerini kullandı.
Sırbistan topraklarından geçmesine izin verilecek boru hattının yapımına ise Nisan ayında başlanılması düşünülüyor.
Projenin Karadeniz’den geçen bölümünün açılışı, Rusya Devlet Başkanı Vladimir Putin’in de katılımıyla 19 Kasım 2018’de İstanbul’da yapılmıştı. Açılış töreninde konuşma yapan Cumhurbaşkanı Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, “31.5 milyar metreküp Rus gazını Avrupa’ya taşıyarak 100 milyar dolarlık bir ticaret hacmine ulaşmak istiyoruz” demişti.
Putin ise, “Bu proje, Türkiye’yi önemli bir gaz merkezi haline getirecek” ifadelerini kullanmıştı.
Öte yandan Ukrayna Devlet Gaz Şirketi Yöneticisi Andrey Kobolev bir açıklama yaparak, “Türk Akımı projesinin başarıya ulaşması halinde, doğalgaz sektöründeki önemimizi kaybederiz” demişti.
