Makedonya’nın yakın tarihinde birçok felakat meydana geldi. Siyah listenin başında 1.100 kişinin öldüğü ve 3.000 kişinin yaralandığı 1963 yılındaki Üsküp depremi yer almaktadır.
Depremden sonra uçak kazaları yer almaktadır. Sözkonusu kazalarda da çok sayıda vatandaş hayatını kaybetti.
En büyük uçak kazası 22.11.1993 yılında meydana geldi. “Avioimpeks” şirketinin “Yak-42D” uçağı pilot hatası nedeniyle düştü. Sözkonusu kazada 115 kişi öldü.
Sadece doğal afetleri göz önüne alırsak Üsküp ve çevre köylerde yaşanan ve şimdiye kadar 22 kişinin hayatını kaybettiği felaket, Üsküp depreminin ardından listenin ikinci sırasında yer aldı.
1962 ve 1979 sel felaketlerinde insan kayıpları olmadığı için listede yok.
Listede silahlı çatışmalarda ve polis ve askeri eylemlerinde hayatını kaybedenler bulunmuyor.

“Cesna” uçak kazası – 4 kişi hayatını kaybetti
“Antonov” uçak kazası – 2 kişi hayatını kaybetti
MI – 17 Helikopter kazası – 2 kişi hayatını kaybetti
