Makedonya hükümeti tarafından ülkenin güney ve kuzey sınırında olağanüstü hal ilan edildi. İçişleri Bakanlığı ve Makedonya Ordusu’nun kontrolünde göçmenlerin ülkeye girişi önlenmeye çalışılacak.
İçişleri Bakanlığı Sözcüsü İvo Kotevski yaptığı açıklamada “bu kararla amaçlarının yoğun göçmen akınına karşı sınırları kontrol altına alma ve sınır bölgelerindeki güvenliği sağlamak” olduğunu söyledi.
Makedonya hükümetinin bu kararı almada en önemli sebebinin son 24 saat içerisinde İçişleri Bakanlığı’na 1.327, son iki ayda ise 41.414 sığınma talebi başvurusu yapılması olarak öne sürüldü.
