Cumhurbaşkanı Hashim Thaçi, ABD ziyareti kapsamında Dışişleri Bakanı Mike Pompeo tarafından kabul edildi.
Trump yönetiminin Kosova’ya sunduğu destekten dolayı teşekkür eden Cumhurbaşkanı Thaçi, Kosova Güvenlik Gücü’nün yeni misyonu konusunda da ABD’nin sunduğu destek için minnettar olduğunu ifade etti.
Görüşmenin en önemli gündem maddesini Kosova ve Sırbistan arasında diyaloğun son aşaması oluşturdu.
“ABD, Kosova ile Sırbistan arasında, karşılıklı tanınma ve Kosova’nın NATO, AB ve BM üyeliği yolunu açan kapsamlı bir anlaşmaya varmasını destekliyor” diyen Thaçi, ABD desteğinin anlaşmaya varılması için belirleyici olduğunu kaydetti.
Cumhurbaşkanı ayrıca, “Bu tarihi dönemeci kullanmazsak, sadece Kosova olarak değil, aynı zamanda bölge olarak da tehlikeli bir döneme girme riski altındayız. Bu nedenle tek yol, Kosova ve Sırbistan arasında anlaşmaya varılmasıdır” ifadelerine yer verdi.
ABD Dışişleri Bakanı Mike Pompeo da, başta Kosova ve Sırbistan arasında kapsayıcı bir anlaşmaya varılması olmak üzere, her alanda desteğin süreceğini kaydetti.
