Gazetecileri Koruma Komitesi (CPJ) ve Sınır Tanımayan Gazeteciler (RSF), 2015 yılında yaklaşık 70 gazetecinin görevi başında öldürüldüğünü açıkladı.
Merkezi Paris’te bulunan RSF bu yıl dünya genelinde 67 gazetecinin, merkezi New York’ta bulunan CPJ de 69 gazetecinin görevi başında ya da mesleki nedenlerden öldürüldüğünü bildirdi.
CPJ tarafından hazırlanan yıllık raporda, bu gazetecilerden 29’unun, aralarında El Kaide ve DAEŞ’in de bulunduğu terör örgütleri tarafından katledildiği belirtildi.
Rapora göre, basın mensupları için 2015’te en tehlikeli yer Suriye oldu. Suriye’de 13 gazeteci görevi başındayken öldürülürken, Charlie Hebdo ve Paris katliamlarının yaşandığı Fransa 9 gazeteci katledildi. Gazetecilerin en fazla öldürüldüğü diğer ülkeler ise Brezilya, Yemen, Güney Sudan, Irak ve Bangladeş oldu. Brezilya’da 6, Yemen, Güney Sudan, Irak ve Bangladeş’te 5’er gazeteci işini yaparken cinayete kurban gitti.
CPJ’ye göre, gazetecilerden en az 17’si, çatışma sırasında veya diğer tehlikeli görevlerde öldürüldü.
