Tarım Bakanı Lyupço Nikolovski bugün düzenlediği basın toplantısında, Makedonya’da tarımcılığın geliştirilmesi için Avrupa Birliği (AB) destekli proje ile 6 ila 8 yerde küçük sulama sistemleri inşa edileceğini duyurdu. Düşük maliyetli su sistemlerinin- tarımın rekabet gücünü artırması, sektördeki gelirleri koruması ve iklim değişikliğinin olumsuz etkilerini azaltması bekleniyor.
Makedonya’daki tarım alanlarında sulama sistemleri durumunun tatmin edici olmadığını söyleyen Tarım Bakanı Lyupço Nikolovski, “Bazı bölgelerde, sulama sistemleri işlevsiz ve harap durumdadır. Bunların acilen tamir edilmesine ve yenilerinin kurulmasına ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır” dedi.
Avrupa Birliği, Dünya Bankası’na göre tarımın iklim değişikliğine karşı savunmasız kalan sektörlerden biri olduğunu ve tarım ve hayvancılık risklerinden korunmak için tarım politikalarının bu değişikliklerle uyumlu hale getirilmesi gerektiğini belirtti.
AB Katılım Öncesi Yardım Aracı (İPA) 2015 fonları ile yapılacak projenin 1,7 milyon avro tutarında olması bekleniyor.
Tarım ve Kırsal Kalkınma Ulusal Programı ile önümüzdeki 15-20 yıl içinde 250 bin hektarlık alanın sulanmas sıkıntısının giderilmesi planlanıyor.
