Belarus’ta 7-9 Nisan tarihlerinde oynanan dörtlü finalde mutlu sona ulaşan Vardar, 2012 ve 2014’ten sonra üçüncü kez SEHA Gazprom Ligi şampiyonu oldu. Vardar ve Veszprem dışında ligde şampiyonluğu olan tek takım dörtlü finali sonuncu olarak bitiren HC PPD Zagreb (2013) oldu.
YARI FİNALLER
Telekom Veszprem finale ev sahibi Meshkov Brest’i penaltılarla 33:31 mağlup ederek yükseldi.
HC Vardar ise Hırvat rakibi HC PPD Zagreb karşısında 36:28 galip geldiği yarı final maçıyla adını finale yazdırdı.
FİNAL MÜSABAKASI
2016/17 Sezonunun final karşılaşmasında da bronz madalya mücadelesinde olduğu gibi en göze çarpan performans bir kaleciden geldi. HC Vardar’ın 26:21 (11:11) kazandığı maçın adamı hiç kuşkusuz 15 Veszprem atağını boşa çıkaran Arpad Sterbik oldu.
Savunma odaklı maçta yaklaşık 43 dakika başa baş geçti. Bu dakikadan sonra Sterbik’in kritik kurtarışları turnuvanın en değerli oyuncusu seçilen Joan Canellas’ın beş golü Vardar’ın ipi göğüslemesini sağladı. Vardar’dan Timur Dibirov ve Veszprem’in gol makinası Momir Ilic de beşe gol kaydederek açın en skorer isimleri oldu.
Veszprem geçen sezon Vardar’ı finalde 28:26 mağlup etmişti.
Victoria Arena’daki fnal müsabakasının ilk yarısı gerçek bir savunma savaşına sahne oldu. Veszprem kalecisi Mirko Alilovic ile Vardar kalecisi Arpad Sterbik harika oyunlarıyla izleyenlere parmak ısırttı.
Maçın ilk devresinde Sırp savunmacı Mijailo Marsenic 3 golle Vardar’ın en skorer ismi oldu. Vardar’ın iki golle önde götürdüğü ilk yarıda son sözü boş kaleye gönderdiği uzun şutla Veszprem söyledi. İlk yarı eşitlikle bitti (11:11).
VARDAR SOYUNMA ODASINA GİTMEDİ!
Vardar Antrenörü Raul Gonzalez şampiyonluğa odaklanmış takımını devre arasında soyunma odasına göndermedi. 40. dakikaya girildiğinde Rogerio Moraes ve Timur Dibirov’u golleriyle Makedon ekibi skoru 17:14’e taşıdı. Veszprem Antrenörü Javier Sabate‘nin bu dakikada aldığı molanın ardından Veszprem üst üste 3 golle tekrar eşitliği sağladı.
Alilovic her ne kadar imkanszı kurtarışlara imza atsa da Vardar’ın beş gollük serisine engel olamadı (22:17). Sabate’nin bitime 11 dakika kala aldığı mola sonucu değiştirmedi.
VELUX EHF ŞAMPİYONLAR LİGİ
SEHA Gazprom Ligi şampiyonu HC Vardar, Brest’in 5. ve Zagreb’in 6. sırada bitirdiği VELUX EHF Şampiyonlar Ligi B Grubunu lider tamamlayarak Son 16 Turunda mücadele etmeden doğrudan çeyrek finale adım attı. Diğer SEHA finalisti Telekom Veszprem ise A Grubunu 3. sırada tamamlayarak Son 16 Turunda Zagreb ile karşılaştı.
Vardar çeyrek finalde 2014 Şampiyonlar Ligi Şampiyonu SG Flensburg-Handewitt ile, Veszprem ise son şampiyon Kielce’yi eleyen Montpellier HB ile çeyrek final mücadelesi verecek.
SEHA Gazprom Ligi finalistlerinin VELUX EHF Şampiyonlar Ligi dörtlü finalinde karşılaşma ihtimali bulunuyor.
