Birleşmiş Milletler Mülteciler Yüksek Komiserliği (BMMYK), Ege adalarındaki sığınmacıların durumunun endişe verici olduğunu bildirerek, Yunanistan hükümetine sığınmacıları ana karaya taşıma çağrısında bulundu.
BMMYK Sözcüsü Adrian Edwards, BM Cenevre Ofisi’nde düzenlenen basın toplantısında, “Son zamanlarda sorunları çözme çabalarına rağmen, adaların birçok bölgesinde koşullar oldukça kötü. Adalardaki hava sıcaklıkların düşmesinin beklendiği bu hafta sonu daha iyi korunma ihtiyacı daha da şiddetli hale gelecek. Endişeliyiz.” dedi.
“Halen, Samos, Sakız ve Midilli adalarındaki durum özellikle endişe verici” ifadesini kullanan Edwards, Samos adasında aralarında çocukların da bulunduğu 700 korunmasız sığınmacının karşılama merkezlerinde ısıtma sistemleri olmayan çadırlarda yaşam mücadelesi verdiğine dikkat çekti.
Edwards, adalardaki sığınmacıların Yunanistan ana karasına taşınmasının kayıt sürecinin tamamlanması veya özellikle korunmasız sığınmacıların tespit edilmesiyle mümkün olduğunun altını çizerek, “Yunan adalarındaki sığınmacıların ana karaya taşınması şarttır.” diye konuştu.
“AB sözünü tutsun”
Avrupa Birliğinin (AB), 2015’te kararlaştırdığı sığınmacıları diğer üye ülkelere yerleştirme planını çerçevesinde 4 Ocak 2017’ye kadar sadece 7 bin 760 sığınmacının Yunanistan’dan AB’ye gittiğine işaret eden Edwards, bunun verilen sözün yüzde 12’sine tekabül ettiğini vurguladı.
Sözcü Edwards, geçen yıl AB’nin Yunanistan’dan 66 bin 400 sığınmacıyı kabul edeceğini açıkladığını anımsatarak, AB üyesi ülkeleri verdikleri sözü tutmaya davet etti.

Today, I went to the beach with my kids.
