İstifasına ilişkin açıklama yapan Pejovic, ahlaki bazı sebeplerden aldığı bu kararı Başbakan Dusko Markovic’e de yazılı olarak bildirdiğini kaydetti.
Yolsuzluğu Önleme Ajansının (ASK) hem bakan hem de başmüzakereci olarak görev yapmasının çıkar çatışmasına neden olduğu hükmüne vardığı Pejovic, “Karadağ kurumlarının faaliyetlerine saygı duyan, sorumluluk ve vicdan sahibi bir vatandaş olarak hem hükümeti hem kendimi ASK kararından sonra oluşan baskıdan korumak adına böyle bir karar aldım.” ifadelerini kullandı.
ASK’nin kendisine yönelik yolsuzluk iddialarına da değinen Pejovic, Karadağ hükümetinin Hırvatistan ve Sırbistan örneklerine uygun olarak hazırladığı kanunlara göre, hem bakan hem de başmüzakereci görevlerini aynı anda yürütmesinde bir sakıncası olmadığını savundu.
ASK, Pejovic’in geçen yılın mayıs ayından beri icra ettiği başmüzakerecilik görevinden ayda 3 bin 168 avro ek gelir sağladığını tespit ederek, Pejovic’in hem bakan hem başmüzakereci olarak görev yapmasında çıkar çatışması olduğuna hükmetmişti.
