Başkente bir süredir devam eden 11. Büyükelçiler Konferansı’nın bugünkü ve Ankara’daki son toplantısı basına açık sürdü. Toplantıda Dışişleri Bakanı Çavuşoğlu ile AB Göç, İçişleri ve Vatandaşlık Sorumlu Komiseri Yunan Avramopoulos, AB-Türkiye ilişkilerine ilişkin konuşma yaptı. Kürsüye çıkan Bakan Çavuşoğlu konuşmasını kısa tuttu ve Yunan Avramopoulos’a dönerek, “Yunanistan bizim için önemli bir ülke. Bazı sorunlarımız var bunları önemsiyoruz, bunlara ilişkin birlikte bazı seçenekleri araştırmalıyız” dedi.

AB Göç, İçişleri ve Vatandaşlık Sorumlu Komiseri Avramopoulos ise, “Türkiye 3 milyondan fazla mülteciye ev sahipliği yaptığı için tebrik ediyoruz. Bunun sizin ülkeniz için ağır bir yük olduğunun farkındayım ve bir kez daha ifade etmek isterim ki; AB- Türkiye ile birliktedir ve destek vermeye devam edecektir. Türkiye’nin sürekli olarak göç sorunları ile karşı karşıya kaldığının farkındayım ve bu yüzden güçlü iş birliğimiz devam etmelidir. Türkiye ve Avrupa kaçınılmaz olarak coğrafya, tarih, kültürel ve ortak çıkarlarla bağlıdır. Türkiye’nin Avrupa’ya doğru bir yolda kalması kaçınılmazdır. Avramopoulos, Türkiye’nin geçmişte terörden dolayı çok sıkıntılar çektiğini hatırlatarak, “Türkiye halkı bir çok kez terör saldırısına uğradı. Ben buradaydım ve bunları gördüm, terörizm herhangi bir sınır tanımaz onun sadece 1 yüzü vardır. Bu bir küresel mücadeledir bu yüzden elimizi taşın altına atmamız gerekiyor.
