ABD merkezli International Republican Institute’nin (IRI) tarafından yapılan ankette vatandaşların %57’sinin “Kuzey Makedonya Cumhuriyeti” ismiyle AB ve NATO üyeliklerini desteklediği ortaya çıktı.
30 Eylül referandumu öncesinde Uluslararası Cumhuriyet Enstitüsü (IRI) tarafından yapılan bir ankete göre, Makedon vatandaşlarının çoğunluğu Yunanistan ve Makedonya ile isim anlaşmazlığının sona ermesini ve ülkenin Avrupa Birliği ve NATO üyesi olmak istediğini ortaya çıkardı.
Ankete katılanalrın %37’si “tamamen”, %20’si ise “kısmen” Makedonya’nın AB ve NATO yolunu açacak “Kuzey Makedonya Cumhuriyeti” önerisini kabul ediyor. Yine ankete katılanların %57’si üyeliğin yararlarının yeni ismin kabul edilmesini haklı çıkardığına inanıyor. Ankete katılanların %49’u isim anlaşmazlığını çözmek için oy kullanma niyetinde olduğunu belirtirken %22’si ise önerilen değişime karşı oy kullanacağını açıkladı.
Uluslararası Cumhuriyet Enstitüsü (IRI) Bölge Müdürü Pol Mekarti, “Makedonya bu önemli referanduma yaklaştıkça, AB ve NATO üyeliğine kapıları açacak isim anlaşmazlığına uzlaşmacı bir çözüm için destek, transatlantik kurumlar için güçlü bir sevgi olduğunu gösteriyor” dedi.
AB ve NATO üyeliği desteği büyümeye devam ediyor. Makedonya ‘nın AB üyeliğini destekleyen yanıt verenlerin sayısı yüzde 83’e yükseldi – bu oran Ağustos 2017’ den %6 ve Mart 2017 ‘den bu yana %11 arttı. NATO’ ya destek de %77 oranında.
